One of the most enjoyable experiences that I had while visiting our team in Kochi, India a couple of months ago was taking a group motorcycle ride through both the city and beautiful lake-filled countryside. Almost all 700+ of our team members in India own a two-wheeler of some type, but only 2% or so of U.S. drivers are licensed to ride a two or three-wheeler.
I am blessed to be located in the foothills of the North Georgia mountains, and I was delighted to share some of my favorite roads in the area with Sanoop and Jithin, two of our teammates from India who are visiting the U.S. There were lots of great curves, elevation changes, and scenic vistas, such as the one in the photo (below) taken on Burnt Mountain. Both guys are very good riders, and it only took them a few miles to get used to riding on the right side of the road.
What a combination of riders and bikes! Me, the U.S. guy, on a Japanese machine, and Sanoop and Jithin, who are both from India, on Royal Enfields — a bike of British heritage that is now manufactured in India and is also one of the oldest global motorcycle brands in continuous operation (since 1901).
It is important to IMMCO that our team experiences the culture and beauty of the countries we operate in when we visit one another. I was privileged to see Hindu Temple Festivals, Chinese Fishing Nets, and the beautiful Athirapally Waterfall while I was in Kochi. While visiting the US, our Indian colleagues work hard through the day, but at night and on the weekends, they have had diverse experiences such as attending a crawfish boil, a NASCAR Race, and of course 2021 World Series Champion Atlanta Braves Baseball.”
